Most Common FAQs

  • Cargo Polaris will act as your broker: we’ll identify the hold reason, request missing docs, and pre-file corrections.

  • Upload these immediately: commercial invoice (itemized), packing list (weights/dimensions), AWB/BL, importer tax ID, and any certificates (origin, phytosanitary, licenses).

  • Typical timeline: complete docs → 0–24 hours; docs-corrections or inspection → 24–72+ hours.

  • Fastest route: provide PDFs, authorize e-signatures, and respond to broker requests within hours — not days.

  • Carrier liability is limited; declared value or all-risk cargo insurance is recommended for high-value goods.

  • Claim steps: notify Claims within 7 days; submit invoice, POD, photos, original packaging, and repair/survey estimates.

  • We acknowledge within 48 hrs; preliminary status in ~14 days; final settlement typically 30–90 days depending on investigation.

  • Options depend on timing: before departure = low/no fee; in transit pre-customs = usually possible with modest fees; after customs/arrival = re-filing, new duties and higher costs.

  • To request: submit a reroute in the portal or call your rep with tracking number, new address, consignee contact, and reason. High-value moves require consignee confirmation.

  • Expect fees for rebooking, administrative work, customs disbursements and any new duties; emergency same-day changes incur premium charges.

  • Published transit is an ideal carrier window; real delays stem from consolidation, customs, local pickup/delivery capacity, port/airport congestion, weather or strikes.

  • Cargo Polaris mitigates with contracted capacity, alternate carriers, priority rebooking, and proactive exception alerts.

  • Shipper actions that help: book earlier in peak season, choose priority services, provide complete paperwork at booking, and opt into proactive notifications or a dedicated operations contact.

  • Fragile: use certified crates/pallets, internal bracing, and provide a packing spec sheet + photos — “FRAGILE” sticker alone is insufficient.

  • Hazardous (DG): declare UN number and class at booking, provide MSDS and DG declaration, and use UN-spec packaging; improperly declared DG will be refused.

  • Temperature-sensitive: state required temp range, duration, and passive/active solution; include data loggers for critical shipments and book cold-chain slots in advance.

  • Non-compliance risks: refusal, quarantine, repack fees, or costly delays — follow specs or we will reject the shipment.
